Who is missing from the pews? Many Protestant  mainline denominations have experienced significant declines in membership due to aging. In many cases, there are no active members under forty years old.

To maintain healthy communications and narrow the generation gap, reaching the next generation matters.

Best practices of the congregations and organizations that seem to be effective in reaching younger generations seem to understand the need for change, be willing to launch and re-think ministries so that the overall efforts are viewed as relevant and meeting the needs.  These same congregations seem to find a happy balance that bridges the needs of multiple generations.  One of the telling signs is simply taking a look at the website. If there is no website, that may be a starting point.
