Neighborhood Blasts…Matter to Everyone

Have you ever walked in the neighborhood of your church? Now may be a great time to get comfortable shoes, gather a group and walk the community. Last Saturday, I lead a group of members who wanted to do a neighborhood blast for the summer activities at their church. We started at 11 am and ended close to 1:30 pm. We began with prayer as we started this journey.

PONDER THIS: Due to a job change, a young woman, Carla recently moved in to your community. She is in the process of transitioning from a city 200 miles away. As she works in town during the week and journeys back home on weekends, she wonders if she will ever find a group of friends that make her want to stay on weekends in her new community. Carla’s new home is next door to two of your church members. Will they invite Carla to Church?How can we feel more assured that members will think to invite newcomers, family members, co-workers and even neighbors to visit your church? Recently in our teleseminar, Excite Members to Invite we explored this topic. Too often members do not invite because they simply do not think about inviting. There are lots of other reasons that keep inviting from being top of mind. However, if we want to break through and excite members to invite, you may have to build awareness and help bring inviting top of mind. Why not plan a special Sunday like “Friends & Family Sunday”?
